Pair of 19th-Century French Louis XVI Giltwood Side Chairs by Quignon et Fils
Description
An elegant pair of 19th-century French Louis XVI Revival giltwood side chairs, each bearing the maker's mark of Quignon et Fils, a distinguished Parisian furniture-making firm.
These beautifully detailed chairs feature rectangular open backs framed by intricate carved ornamentation, with decorative floral and scrolling motifs along the upper crests. The giltwood frames display richly carved seat rails, floral rosette corner blocks, and distinctive spiral-fluted front legs.
Each chair features a generously proportioned unfinished upholstered seat covered in a neutral, natural-colored woven fabric. Perfect for applying your choice of fabric. The warm, aged gilded finish reveals subtle reddish undertones and a beautifully timeworn patina.
Both chairs retain their Quignon et Fils markings, supporting their attribution to the renowned French cabinetmaking firm active during the 19th century.
Perfect as occasional seating in a formal living room, bedroom, dressing room, or sophisticated Parisian-inspired interior.
