Petrossian Gold Plated Wash and Silver Plate Handle Caviar Server "Paddle" Spoon, 1980's

Commissioned by Petrossian in 1983, this implement has been used as an iconic serving piece in Petrossian restaurants. The tip is silver-gilt (18k gold plated wash) and the handle is silver plate. The use of non-reactive materials like the gold-plated paddle is thought to prevent any metallic taste from interfering with the delicate flavor of the caviar being served.
